Boxing changed my life.
What started as a way to get fitter and challenge myself quickly became something much bigger. Through boxing, I found confidence, resilience, discipline and a belief in myself that carried into every area of life.
As both a boxer and coach, I've experienced the highs, setbacks and challenges that come with stepping outside your comfort zone. Those experiences shape how I coach today.
Alongside coaching boxing and fitness clients, I work with young people in schools and alternative provision settings, including those with SEND. While I've completed training in trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation, much of my approach comes from lived experience and understanding the challenges that many young people face. I'm passionate about giving back through boxing and helping others experience the same positive impact that the sport has had on my own life. I've seen first-hand how boxing can build confidence, resilience, self-discipline and emotional regulation, helping people overcome challenges both inside and outside of the ring.
Most recently, I completed England Boxing's Five Pillars Coach Development Programme at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. The programme is based on England Boxing's coaching framework and focuses on breaking down boxing skills and techniques to support the development of boxers at every level. I'm committed to continually developing as a coach and enjoy learning from other coaches and boxers, sharing experiences and bringing new ideas back into my own coaching practice.
Rachel recently completed England Boxing's 5 Pillars / BADST Framework course at the national facility — learning directly from the team that develops pathway coaches and elite boxers.
The Five Pillars are England Boxing's framework for developing boxers through every stage — technical, tactical, physical, psychological and lifestyle. It's the same curriculum used to bring through the next generation of GB Boxing athletes.
